This week, Terry Urban, Speak Out reporter for WVAS QUEER NEWS speaks to Santa Claus about Christmas.
WVQN: Hello Santa Claus. This is probably one of your busiest times of year. How does one keep up with all that must be going on at the North Pole?
Santa Claus: You’re right it is the busiest time of year for me but Mama Claus keeps everything under control and keeps the elves in line.
WVQN: Santa, I heard that Rudolph was a little under the weather. Will he be okay for your deadline on Christmas Eve?
Santa Claus: Oh yes, he’s just got a few sniffles. Nothing could keep him away from being head of the pack. Since his day of “reindeer games” and the infamous namecalling, Rudolph does not want to fall back into the abuse. So, I assure you, you will see his nose shining bright.
WVQN: So, Santa, how are the kids these days? I mean, are they more greedy or just asking for their usual wants?
Santa Claus: Surprising enough, many of the children have asked for things from the heart. Asking that someone who is ill, gets better and of course, they always throw in that favorite toy they want. The children are wonderful, and always bring a smile to my face.
WVQN: Okay, I hear that Ms Claus has you on a diet. Why is that? I for one, think you would lose your charm if you lost that belly.
Santa Claus: She does keep me on a diet for the most of November, to get me ready to chow down in December, to fit in that suit. The best part of my road trip is the fact, I have so many cookies and glasses of milk to take care of and they are all good to the last drop. The most important ingredient though, is the love the kids place with it.
WVQN: Okay, I gotta ask Santa what are the gay men and women asking for this year?
Santa Claus: Oh man, it seems some of the guys fancy old Santa Claus. I for one like the attention but am not gay. Sorry guys. I however, have been told that the guys want to see me in some designer wear, but got to stick with tradition on that one too.
WVQN: What are some of the most wanted gifts this holiday season?
Santa: Well, in adults. They seem to be craving electronics. Computers, digital picture frames, and such. The children want movies, video games, and Littlest Pet Shop accessories.
WVQN: Okay, Santa we know you are busy. So we aren’t going to take up anymore of your time but feel free to stop in anytime at WV Queer News.
Santa: Thanks Terry for having me and keep up your good work. Also tell that new bartender at the Tap Room, a couple of elves are going to be looking him up after the holidays. I did too, want to address my elves, they are truly inspirational and are to be congratulated this year for a record year in toy production and a great dose of the Christmas Spirit. Also, do not forget to address the real reason of Christmas, the birth of Jesus. Well, thanks again and Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas.
WVQN: Thanks for the interview Santa, and we wish you a Merry Chirstmas as well, as a Happy New Year.
